How To Use Twitter Lists

Twitter lists is a feature where I can segment my friends into categories. For instance if I have private tweets (updates) I want only a select few friends to read, then you would be put on that list. However, if I wanted to include you in tweets about entertainment news only, then I would place you in that list. It really cuts down on the amount of clutter you get on Twitter.
You can look at Twitter Lists as a way to organize your stream of tweets.
Because I am a visual person, let me give you my take on it all. Twitter Lists is my file cabinet for tweets, giving me the option of placing entertainment type tweets in one folder with the people who follow them. For instance, if I tweet about the new Michael Jackson movie, “This Is It” and I know I have a hundred followers who only retweet and reply to those types of tweets, then this list would be titled “@teasastips/entertainment-news.” By the way, if you want to join that list and receive only tweets about entertainment news, then just click on the link above to get on that list.
If you are a party promoter, then you may want to create a list for all your party events. Not only will the list serve as a bullhorn for your parties, it will also enable other followers to find you by doing a Twitter Search. And with the inclusion of Bing Search and other search engines getting on the Twitter bandwagon, your party just might wind up at the top of the search lists. See, the name of the internet traffic game is still how ‘popular’ you are, which of course translates into traffic. If you get the traffic, then you get the followers, which means you get the customers (the money.)
Here is a screen shot of my Twitter List invite. You will know if you have been invited because when you go to your account you will see the following message:
Then I have a list for new blog posts, whenever I update my blog, if you are on that list, you will be the first to get it. Twitter Lists will soon eliminate the need for Google Reader and RSS Feeds. You can now use these new list links to your email signature, forum signature and even on Facebook.
