Around 11:30pm CST I noticed my tweets weren’t going through from my Blackberry. This was bad I thought. Not another outage from RIM, the Blackberry owners. However, it was more severe than that. According to TechCrunch, Twitter has been into and defaced allegedly by the Iranian Cyber Army.
Twitter is currently offline and can only be accessed through third party applications like HootSuite or FriendFeed. This is the message that is written in the picture above (a screen shot of the Twitter page currently).
”
The message reads:
Iranian Cyber Army
THIS SITE HAS BEEN HACKED BY IRANIAN CYBER ARMY
iRANiAN.CYBER.ARMY@GMAIL.COM
U.S.A. Think They Controlling And Managing Internet By Their Access, But THey Don’t, We Control And Manage Internet By Our Power, So Do Not Try To Stimulation Iranian Peoples To….
NOW WHICH COUNTRY IN EMBARGO LIST? IRAN? USA?
WE PUSH THEM IN EMBARGO LIST ![]()
Take Care.
This isn’t the first time Twitter has had to go offline. Just last month Twitter suffered a couple of outages that caused users to wait until the service was operational again. Twitter’s security has been challenged before, now it appears that very security has been completely compromised. The question becomes, is Twitter a stable network? And how safe are our passwords going to be now that cyber thugs have taken the site over.
It is unclear if the Iranian Cyber Army is holding Twitter hostage, or is it just a temporary outage. Only time will tell. As of this writing, Twitter is not online, my Blackberry appears to be pushing all my emails, and I’m wondering if my connection to cyber world will change forever. Can my Blackberry handle all the emails I push to it? Will it fail me again?
Will Twitter escape from the cyber thugs holding it hostage? Will there be a ransom? Will Twitter ever recover from this terrible cyber crime? Stay tuned as I attempt to keep you updated. You can follow me on Plurk….they never seem to have outages.

Yes Sam it is true. I was trying to send a Tweet from my Blackberry around 11p and kept noticing that the tweet was frozen. I checked TechCrunch to see if there was another Twitter outage, and that’s where I got the screenshot from that you see above in the post. Twitter has been hacked four times this year.

In my opinion that was a nice job done by the Iranians. Although it wasn’t a good idea to do some harm to innocent twitter users, but it was an effective move to show Iranian problems to the world.

So it was a good thing to ‘take’ something that does not belong to you? IMO what the Iranians did was ruthless, similar to any terrorist act. Don’t you think we know what problems the Iranians have? Look around you, every country has problems, not just Iran. Its time people of the world stop being so self centered and thinking its all about them. Its not. Everyone has problems, you may think its so good in one country, but if you lived there you would see its not all peaches and cream.
