Social Networking Is Just Like Dating, Dress To Impress!

For me, social networking is an extension of real life networking; you meet someone, have conversation, and establish some sort of relationship, personal or business. However, I realize, just as in real life networking, there are those that struggle with online social networking. Think of social networking as the science of turning contacts and friends into customers.
One of the keys to successful social networking is participation. It’s important to be a part of the conversation as much as possible. You don’t want to be a wallflower at a dance, so don’t be a wallflower on Twitter or Facebook. Be a part of the process. Jump in and comment. Add something substantive to the conversation–this makes people curious about you and they will undoubtedly visit your profile. Once they visit, usually the friend request will follow.
Now that they’re following you, reading your every status update and tweet, don’t rush into things by trying to sell them on your first few words of communication. Wait a minute, feel them out, see what they came for. You can easily check this out on Facebook by clicking on that person’s profile, and reading some of their responses or contributions. A quick and easy way to investigate and find more out about your new friend. This technique is also a powerful way to enter into a conversation with your new friend by commenting on a photo or wishing them happy birthday.
It is always better to give than receive.
Keep that in mind when using social networking. Advice, knowledge, a free report, all those things are like little gifts to your new friend. You will make a good impression this way. Men who are attempting to date a woman they like always show up for the first date early, they dress nice, and probably take her on a memorable date. Think of social networking as your new date, you want to dress to impress. This is an easy way to engage your friends and followers.
Really social networking is all about first impressions, communication, and making online connections that click. When you discover people flocking to you like bees on honey because of a blog post you wrote or a conversation you started, then keep that kind of behavior going! Repeat what works, and soon, very soon, your date with social networking will turn into a relationship.
