There are three steps to success:

1. Get an idea
2. Plan how to achieve the idea
3. Act on the plan

Most people usually stop at step number one, and jump to step number three.  Forgetting, that every idea needs a plan, a road map on how to get there.  If you get an idea, but don’t know how to make that idea come to life, then how will you be able to successfully act upon that idea?

I don’t know.

GBG 10-in-1 Liquid Multivitamin

For me, when I started out with GBG 10-in-1 liquid multivitamin, I got a great idea from my oldest sister Yvette.  She invited me to drink some of this nutrient filled juice that she claimed was giving her energy, while providing very necessary nutrients that her 40 year old plus body was not producing.  Most of us go to the local retail outlet to pick up multivitamins, antioxidants, and other vitamin supplements just so we can feel healthy.  No one likes to go to the doctor, so you embark on a journey to take care of yourself by supplementing your diets.

So, I knew that getting sales and distributors for GBG was going to be a challenge because of the retail competition.  But, then I realized there was also lots of online competition as well.  Suddenly my idea was sitting amongst the crowded market of every vitamin supplement in the world!  The challenge was to get my offer seen by the people who needed it most.

Never one to avoid a challenge, I began thinking about the people most likely to use vitamin supplements:  women in the 40 year plus age range.

That was my first target market.

I started concentrating my marketing efforts offline more than online, creating flyers and leaving business cards in places where my target market frequented.  Grocery stores, hair salons, and local restaurants.  Local restaurants you’re thinking, but why?

Because GBG is a healthy liquid multivitamin drink, and sometimes when women eat out, they feel guilty about what they eat.  Guilt is a powerful emotion.  I just used it against them.

How well did my plan work?  Quite well I might add.  I got started with GBG when I bought my first bottle.  I didn’t decide to become a distributor until a year later, that is until I met a distributor from Las Vegas who had quit her full time job and was now doing GBG full time and loving every minute of her stress free life.

Beware of the snake oil salesmen, they’re everywhere!

If you’re like me, all day long you probably read emails or status updates from your friends and followers positively promoting the successes they are experiencing with their home based business offers.  Some of these updates are so enticing, it can make you wonder, should I try this or that home business opportunity?

Are they really making any money like they say they are?

The question is, how will you know?  That’s what is scary in the area of home based businesses,

there are so many fly by night companies, that you really have to beware of who you are dealing with.  It is important to not only research the offer, but research the person who is promoting it as well.  You don’t want to become one of the people who has lost thousands of dollars in countless home based business opportunities

only to come up empty handed instead of wealthy like the promoters promised you would be.

Let me quote you some frightening statistics on how many people get taken advantage of every year by fraudulent home based business offers

According to Scambusters, the top home based business opportunity that takes advantage of more Americans than anything else is the envelope stuffing opportunities.  These offers are never real, they never pay you, yet you end up sending a money order or cash to a P.O. Box to get the materials to stuff the envelopes.  Most of the time all you get in return for your hard earned cash is a list of companies that MIGHT need your services.  You’ve just lost money, and you don’t know who to complain to.

Another home based business or work at home opportunity that is high on the list, are MLM’s.

Snake Oil Salesmen are everywhere!

According to Scambusters, most MLM’s are pyramid schemes, and the FTC will prosecute those who head up these scams disguising itself as a home based business opportunity.  Multi-Level Marketing scams come in all shapes and sizes. Some are simply pyramid schemes while others involve selling worthless products no one would ever want or need. All of them promise high incomes and you only have to work part-time. If the lure of big money has led you to multilevel marketing then you really need to read our article and then investigate whatever plan it is you want to become involved with.

Here are some warning signs that a multilevel marketing program is a scam or pyramid scheme:

• You make money by signing up new members
• You aren’t selling a good product
• You are selling to distributors
• You are promised a high income
• You can succeed if you work part-time

I recommend checking these programs out before you spend your hard earned cash.  Look for legitimate products being sold, and businesses that require little or no cash to start up.  GBG is one such company where no money is required to begin your own home based business.

Be careful with your money, and keep in mind, that nothing worth having comes easy.

Where do you want your dreams, your vision of business success to take you?

Have you ever looked at it from the perspective that you are traveling on a road that has an outcome that will be both good and bad?

Your business is not making money, what now?

Let’s examine the bad first.

1. There are times when you want to quit, give up and go get a job.  Family places pressure on you because you’re not the breadwinner you used to be.  And they blame it on your desire to fulfill a dream.  One you can’t let go.
2. There will be times when you first begin, that the money is slow or just isn’t being made.  You will think that you’re doing something wrong, even though you spend hours working and nothing seems to be happening.
3. Your friends tease you, your family thinks you’re crazy, and there are times when you wonder if you made the right choice.
4. You watch your former co-workers appear to be more successful since you left the company.  And you’re wondering if your old job will take you back.

All of those thoughts are real.  As they say, “been there, done that.”  But, the reality is, no matter what I have gone through with my business, my ups and my downs, I will not sway nor waiver.  My resolve is strong, and I am going to keep going.  Here’s why:

1. Success is measured one step at a time.  If you do things right when you begin your journey to home based business success, then you will be creating a foundation that will never fade away.
2. Belief in yourself is strongest when you are down.  When there is nowhere else to go but up, reality sets in and fight or flight takes over.
3. Just when you try to give up, your business will turn around and you will get a new distributor and make a sale.
4. It takes time to build a business, Apple wasn’t built in a day, nor was Google.  Be persistent, consistent everyday and you will be successful.

I know that working your own business is the hardest thing that you will ever do in your life.  But, the economy is so crappy and there is no telling that it will ever return to how it used to be.  With that thought, you need to prepare yourself for the next phase of your life.  You need to take control and stop watching the wheels of life turn; get back on the wheel and take control. This is just a little bit of real talk for you, so that when you feel like giving up, you’ll think twice about what you read here. One thing that helps is to develop a plan, write down your vision of where you see yourself in the next year or even the next five years. If you write down what you want to do, chances are you will wind up somewhere near your original plans if not exceeding them.

Take the time to evaluate your life, what you want to do, and where you see you and your family. Start somewhere, start today. If you change your mind, you can change your life.

One of the hardest things to do when you have a home based business is getting the right message to the right people at the right time. Basically, how you market your home based business, when you market your business and what you say to your audience will determine home based business success or failure. Here’s a couple of things I’ve done that work, and they can be done when you’re on a tight budget.

1. Home Based Business Expos~~I’m always on the lookout for affordable opportunities to showcase my home based business to people who are looking for a chance to make money from home. Getting involved with a Home Based Business Expo is the perfect blend of getting your marketing message to the right people at the right time. Look online for local networking groups or home based business groups in your area. Moms who work at home can try www.momslikeme.com. Most every major city has a chapter you can join for free. Here you can network, share experiences and discover new vendor opportunities at home based business expos in your town. Many times, you can receive advance notice and the cost to participate will be less expensive than if you wait until the last minute.

2. Print your own postcards~~This is why I love Vistaprint! It seems like every week of the month Vistaprint runs a special on 4×6 color postcards. Normally its 100 free postcards with you paying shipping and handling (a small fee). The reproduction is flawless and high quality. You can use these free postcards to promote your business effectively and affordably. We all know a picture is worth a thousand words, and everyone loves eye appealing graphics, be creative and put your work on a 4×6 postcard and distribute them to strangers on the street, or ask area merchants if you can leave some of your cards there. I find that when I think about where my target audience shops, it helps me to come up with ideas and places to leave the postcards. Record shops, restaurants, gas stations are just a few places that will allow you to leave promotional merchandise.

3. Use Twitter to announce your offline marketing appearances. Why not? Its free, and if you’ve targeted followers to your niche, maybe some of them might be in your local area and just show up. Or if they’re not in your area, you could still get a bunch of well wishes in the form of tweets and retweets.

4. Business cards will always be acceptable. Again, I use Vistaprint and get 250 free business cards so whenever I am out and about, I have some cards to pass out. It also helps to have some business cards available if you do Home Based Business Expos. Spread them out in your vendor booth on your vendor table so people who are just looking can take one. Think of business cards like a click on an internet ad. Even though your customer was just looking, they saw something they liked, and that’s why they took the card. Eventually that ‘looking customer’ will buy, sooner or later.

5. Text message all your friends and family. Yes, it still works. Text messaging all your friends and family when you are going to do a Home Based Business Expo helps because they will show up just to cheer you on. We all need support with our dreams, and friends and family will do just that.

These are just 5 ideas to market your business offline and get your product into the hands of people who can make a decision right now. Sometimes we get so involved with our online efforts we forget about the old fashioned way to do business, actually getting out there and meeting people. Marketing your home based business fast offline can sometimes bring you more customers quicker than online.

Preeminence is essentially a
perception. It simply means that

LINE YOUR DUCKS UP

people believe you are the best or
one of the best or at least better
than most others, at what you do.
It’s because of preeminence that
people choose your business over
the competition, that you can
charge higher prices and why
people seek you out instead of you
needing to solicit clients through
aggressive selling.

It actually doesn’t matter if you really are the best at what you do – that’s a
subjective point of view no matter how you look at it. What counts is that you
appear superior in some way, in the view of the people you are trying to
influence.

You want preeminence because it will convince people to join your membership
site and make it easier to find partners who will promote your membership site.
Preeminence is established by association with other people who have
preeminence, by placing yourself in a position to create the perception of
preeminence (for example coverage in the media, speaking at an event) or by
delivering so much value that people refer to your materials as definitive.

Demonstrate Proof

Proof is a key principle for a successful membership launch. When you can
show that you have done what you are claiming to be good at, and even better -
when you can show how you have helped others achieve real results through
the use of testimonial case studies with your past or current members – it is much
easier to convince new people to become members of your site.

In my case I used many proof elements when releasing my membership site,
some of which were planned and some were developed over time without
realizing they would eventually contribute to the success of a new business.
The important point here is that right now you know something and if you can

translate that knowledge into value for other people, then you have the key ingredients for preeminence.

It’s by helping others and constantly being proof of your own hype, that you build your credibility and become an expert in your field.

Without Preeminence You Will Struggle

There are thousands of people who will read this report, many of whom have the
skills, the resources and the knowledge to fill a membership site with great
content and to genuinely help people with what they teach.
Unfortunately for most people, they lack preeminence in their industry, meaning it
will be difficult to successfully launch a membership site because no one will ever
find out about it, or even if they do, they won’t trust the creator enough to make a
purchase.

Preeminence is what helps you form
relationships with other preeminent
experts, and it’s through relationships
with other experts, many of whom have
access to thousands of people, that you
gain the advantages of leverage and
credibility transference.

When an expert recommends you,
instantly in the eyes of the people
hearing his or her recommendation, you
become an expert too. Plus, you gain
access to the influence they have over
their constituents as potential members of your site.

Knowing the right people means you can reach thousands – even millions – of
potential customers, when your friends and colleagues promote your launch.
That’s true leverage and a very powerful advantage.

I’ll talk more about joint ventures and affiliate marketing later, but bear in mind
now, that it’s because of preeminence and relationships that you can enjoy a
huge influx of new members into your site within the first few days after opening,
regardless of whether right now you have an email list or popular website. You
can start with zero and succeed, when you have access to other people’s assets.

To put it simply, you need affiliates if you want a big launch. If you are starting
with nothing, and in order to convince people to work with you, they need to see
that you are good at what you do. Preeminence is the intangible force that
drives relationships with key partners and influences the decision making
process of potential customers.

The past two nights I have been keeping late hours. No I haven’t been hanging out at the clubs. Instead I’ve been transformed. Transformed into an internet marketing consultant and coach.

I guess that’s what you could call it. When you help other people understand and implement practices and techniques that help them become successful in MLM, internet marketing and other home based business opportunities.
