The Rich Jerk: Never Trust A Guru

Google Buzz
Delicious

I was sickened when I read this article.  See, that’s why my motto is “Never Trust A Guru.”  Self professed internet marketing guru The Rich Jerk, you’ve heard of him, probably seen his ads on guru, you might even be on his mailing list.  If you’ve shelled out the $10,000 for his ‘coaching and mentoring’ program, then you are one of the fools he refers to in his public ‘confession.’

NEVER TRUST A GURU THE RICH JERK

Let me give you some background, and I hope this article reads right because in my mind I am on fire!  I hate it when people take advantage of other people for their own material gain.  Call me naïve, call me whatever, but I am real, know this to be true!  I don’t want you to shell out money for products I know don’t work.  Maybe that’s why I only promote online games.  I will NEVER have my name tied up with some scam artist.  These people prey on those who don’t know any better, who are looking to make a quick buck.  People who act impulsively and choose to let their credit cards do their thinking.

But as George Hull (not P.T. Barnum) once said, “there’s a sucker born every minute,” yes apparently so.  The Rich Jerk (as he calls himself, Google this name and you will see who he is), still makes $1 million a month instead of the $3 million a month he was making (thanks to the FTC.)  He is making this money from the wallets of unsuspecting people like you.  If not you, then maybe your relatives, friends or neighbors, whomever.

Don’t let anymore self proclaimed gurus take advantage of you.  People I implore you to do your research, read about a company before you join one!  Don’t be a sheep, don’t be a follower.  And please don’t believe the hype when you read, “only 12 left,” or “private launch.”  Those words are the biggest sack of lies ever invented; designed to get you to part with your hard earned money as quickly as possible.

You can read the rest of Rich Jerk’s confession by going here:  “Just Thoughts (and why most marketers probably won’t promote my stuff anymore.)”

I warn you it is not pretty.

Proper Internet Marketing Has Its Own Rewards

Birth of the Internet plaque at the w:William_...
Image via Wikipedia

Just like anything else in life, to reach a summit you have to start with the first step. In fact, internet marketing is exactly that: choosing a summit that you want to climb, planning the expedition, and executing your plan with consistency until you reach the top. Investing in your internet marketing education is a step toward the top of the summit.

Internet marketing is easy, once you learn the “tricks” that 99% of all others trying to make a buck online don’t know. The first and most important trick is coming up with a winning game plan using a tried and tested strategy.

Let’s discuss the “tricks”, or strategy that will put on a winning trajectory. I’ve broken down internet marketing strategy into the following steps for simplicity:

1. Select Your Target Keyword
You won’t be able to rank well on all keywords at the same time. You need to select one or two single keyword phrases on which to focus your ’sniper bullet’. To see what kind of phrases people are looking for, see the Keyword Suggestion Tool. This is an ‘inventory’ of all keyword searches on Overture.com, and the information is free, so use it!!
2. Establish a Budget
marketing on the internet won’t be free, so you’ll need to decide ahead of time how much money you will be able to spend. As you set out to begin your campaing, you’ll come across a myriad of companies offering to help you drive traffic for a “modest fee”. You can mount a VERY effective campaign yourself for under $200.

Always remember, you don’t want traffic – you want positioning (ranking). When you get to the number 1 position, traffic will come; it’s the law of internet marketing gravity! Your sole focus should be on how to reach the #1 spot, not purchasing clicks.

3. Create Your Websites
This is the step where I lose most people. “Create a web site? I just barely figured out how to use Windows!” Don’t worry – we’ll show you everything you need to do to set up your web sites on a very tight budget.
4. Do Your Homework
Buy yourself a 3-ring binder and start keeping notes like you’ve got a final exam coming up in a few weeks! In your binder you will record your observations, your thoughts, keep a copy of our Internet Marketing Manual handy, sketch out your link strucutres, store printouts of your SEO reports generated by tracking software, and more. If you don’t write down what you’re doing or how your doing it, you’re flying blind!
5. Enact Course Corrections
people wonder how I do so well in the Search Engines. They think I’m some sort of boy-genius that cracked the super-secret Google algorithm. I’m sorry to burst thier bubble, but the real trick to getting to top spots is constant course correction (making LOTS of mistakes and learning from them!). I am always searching the net for Internet Marketing discussion boards and analyzing high ranking pages to figure out how to improve my own sites. Once I find a new ‘trick’, I try it out – not knowing in advance if it will work or not. Over the course of several years, I’ve be able to scratch and claw my way to the top. It was (and still is) a journey and requires attention, intrigue, and curiosity. Rome was not built overnight, and niether is search engine marketing.

Just like anything else that you want, you have to be consistent and work hard at it.  Life has its own rewards and so does proper internet marketing.

When I think of all the ways to make money online, I become overwhelmed with thoughts and ideas. My answer to any newbie would be, well simple. Making money online all depends on what YOU want to do. Yes, it depends on YOU. Its possible there are millions of MMO programs available, most of them however are scams. So, keep that in mind.  Also keep this staggering fact in mind: over 90% people will fail this year after beginning a make money online program.

You don’t have to be in that group if you don’t want to.

You could become an affiliate for CPA networks and promote any of their offers. These offers can range from those cheesy freebies you see like (“register for your free iPad. restrictions may apply.”) Or play online games, or this one below sponsored by HighProfits:

The Income Elite program through High Profits pays $47 a month per sign up. High Profits is free to join, and if you have a blog or website, you can post banners or links to get sales. Income Elite so far, has not received any complaints or negative press, so its safe to join. Its a program that teaches you how to make money online with article writing, internet marketing. Its like a tool box full of resources that can help you make a decent supplemental income.

Now here is the catch, I can not emphasize enough that promoting ANY affiliate program takes time and lots of effort. You can not make money online if you are not willing to sacrifice patience and persistence for a quick buck. That is, don’t expect to make a thousand dollars overnight if you have not put in the work. I’ve been working at monetizing my online games through Mundo Media CPA Network since December, and in the past 3 months I’ve earned, $191.70, $743.80 and $270.00 so far for the month of February. My online games is just one stream of income I am cultivating.

But, earning anything online takes work, remember, patience and persistence wins the race. Nothing can for substitute hard work. Whatever you put into something, is what you will get out of it.

If you’re interested in make money online consulting give me a jingle at 314-774-1156 9am – 5pm CST. We can set up some success planning for you and get you on the right track so you can make money online.

Affiliate Offers Sometimes String You Along

Google Buzz
Delicious

Affiliate marketing illustration by User:xDani...
Image via Wikipedia

One thing I do before I enter into an arrangement to become an affiliate for a company is I research the parent company of that affiliate offer.  I have learned that I am not going to put forth lots of effort into an affiliate program that is going to go belly up in six months. Thus bringing me to PeopleString.

It seems everyone is promoting PeopleString.  I was on Facebook recently and one of my friends was trying to sell me a bill of goods on the offer.  I kept telling him that I wasn’t interested in the offer, and that I research everything.  Well he was quite insistent.  So, as he was writing I did a Google Search on PeopleString and its parent company Big String Corporation.  I discovered some pretty interesting information.

In March 2009 an auditor said:

Bigstring Corp. filed its 10-K on March 31, 2009 for the period ending December 31, 2008. In this report its auditor, Wiener, Goodman & Company, PC, gave an unqualified opinion expressing doubt that the company can continue as a going concern.–Businessweek

Also, on December 22, 2009 their stock was at two (2) cents a share and dropping (can you drop lower than two cents?) This company did.  In March of this year they were at one (1) cent a share.   That sent up a huge red flag to me.

I kept thinking, all of these people are getting duped!  There are only four (4) employees that work for the company, an auditor has raised doubt that the company will survive, I’m not sure this is the affiliate program I want to invest my time and energy in.  There are just too many questions and doubts going on in my head about the offer.

Maybe it’s just me.

But, I prefer to promote offers I feel good about.  You see you should choose wisely the affiliate offers you join.  Some of them are worthless, and don’t pay.  There are many companies/affiliate programs littering the affiliate program cemetery, ‘here today, gone tomorrow.’  And when they leave, they leave with your money.  Don’t get suckered, don’t let them string you along.  There are many tools you can use to research a company, and determine if it is worth your time.

Personally, I use CPA networks to work online.  One affiliate offer I promote is Bejeweled 2 and I developed an application on Facebook for it.  This game as of December 22, 2009 has 1,311 monthly users and growing.  That’s great because I get paid each time someone uses the game.  Bejeweled 2 is a fun and addictive game that Facebook promotes for me.  I don’t have to do much promoting of the game because it is in the Facebook game directory.

Bejeweled 2

Bejeweled 2

One valuable piece of advice I can pass onto you is, don’t be hustled by the hustler.  Do what you love, and the money will follow.  If you like playing games online, find some games to become an affiliate for and promote the sleeves off that program!  Put your all into it.  Don’t be fooled by aggressive online salesmen trying to tell YOU what to make money from.  Be an informed consumer and figure out the best course of action for yourself, and don’t let them string you along.

5 Ideas To Market Your Home Based Business Fast

Google Buzz
Delicious

One of the hardest things to do when you have a home based business is getting the right message to the right people at the right time. Basically, how you market your home based business, when you market your business and what you say to your audience will determine home based business success or failure. Here’s a couple of things I’ve done that work, and they can be done when you’re on a tight budget.

1. Home Based Business Expos~~I’m always on the lookout for affordable opportunities to showcase my home based business to people who are looking for a chance to make money from home. Getting involved with a Home Based Business Expo is the perfect blend of getting your marketing message to the right people at the right time. Look online for local networking groups or home based business groups in your area. Moms who work at home can try www.momslikeme.com. Most every major city has a chapter you can join for free. Here you can network, share experiences and discover new vendor opportunities at home based business expos in your town. Many times, you can receive advance notice and the cost to participate will be less expensive than if you wait until the last minute.

2. Print your own postcards~~This is why I love Vistaprint! It seems like every week of the month Vistaprint runs a special on 4×6 color postcards. Normally its 100 free postcards with you paying shipping and handling (a small fee). The reproduction is flawless and high quality. You can use these free postcards to promote your business effectively and affordably. We all know a picture is worth a thousand words, and everyone loves eye appealing graphics, be creative and put your work on a 4×6 postcard and distribute them to strangers on the street, or ask area merchants if you can leave some of your cards there. I find that when I think about where my target audience shops, it helps me to come up with ideas and places to leave the postcards. Record shops, restaurants, gas stations are just a few places that will allow you to leave promotional merchandise.

3. Use Twitter to announce your offline marketing appearances. Why not? Its free, and if you’ve targeted followers to your niche, maybe some of them might be in your local area and just show up. Or if they’re not in your area, you could still get a bunch of well wishes in the form of tweets and retweets.

4. Business cards will always be acceptable. Again, I use Vistaprint and get 250 free business cards so whenever I am out and about, I have some cards to pass out. It also helps to have some business cards available if you do Home Based Business Expos. Spread them out in your vendor booth on your vendor table so people who are just looking can take one. Think of business cards like a click on an internet ad. Even though your customer was just looking, they saw something they liked, and that’s why they took the card. Eventually that ‘looking customer’ will buy, sooner or later.

5. Text message all your friends and family. Yes, it still works. Text messaging all your friends and family when you are going to do a Home Based Business Expo helps because they will show up just to cheer you on. We all need support with our dreams, and friends and family will do just that.

These are just 5 ideas to market your business offline and get your product into the hands of people who can make a decision right now. Sometimes we get so involved with our online efforts we forget about the old fashioned way to do business, actually getting out there and meeting people. Marketing your home based business fast offline can sometimes bring you more customers quicker than online.

Tips to Become Happier & More Empowered

Google Buzz
Delicious

By Aurelia Williams, author of Journey to Joy

In a search for happiness, many people look for it in other people and not within ourselves. Many people feel that things like money, a better job, better relationships..etc will make them happy. In reality, to find true contentment you must look inside yourself and learn to be your own best friend. That means you have to trust, love, and care for yourself just as you do the people you consider to be close to you.

Following are steps that you can incorporate into your life that will help you to feel more empowered and happy about yourself! These are just some of the many practical strategies I provide to my Journey to Joy students:

Begin to lift yourself up, not put yourself down. If you don’t like something about yourself, work to change it. If you can’t change it, simply accept it. Don’t beat up on yourself with negative self-talk. You’re not likely to change for the better when you fill yourself with negative thoughts.

Give yourself positive rewards. When you do something that you are proud of give yourself a small reward. Try not to wait for others to praise you because you may grow resentful if the praise doesn’t come. Pat your own back, it is a great feeling that can stay with you for a long time.

Forgive yourself. I doubt that you would keep scolding a child over and over for making a mistake so don’t do that to yourself. Give yourself the gift of forgiveness when you make a mistake. After that, work to figure out what lesson you can learn, and use it to make better choices the next time around.

Enjoy your successes. Most people can remember all of the details of depressing, painful or even embarrassing events that happened many years ago. What if you did the same thing with all of your wins? Try to remember all of the triumphs and accomplishments that you’ve made and keep that memory with you and think about it at least once a week.

Always remember to celebrate your wonderful qualities! You will soon discover that the more you love yourself, the more you will be able to give love to others – and the more others will be able to love you!

How A Life Coach Can Help WAHMs Succeed

Certified Life Coach Aurelia Williams

Certified Life Coach Aurelia Williams

This week we will focus on working moms and the work life balance. WAHMS are a huge sector of our country and there is a constant struggle between work-life balance. Today’s post is by Aurelia Williams, Certified Life Coach. “I have always had a burning desire to help others and enjoy sharing tips with other women to help them find the healthy balance between work, family and self, they deserve. I myself am proof that it is possible to find balance in your life. I am a Certified Life Coach, Author of The Journey To Joy eBook and Talk Radio Host. I have 3 wonderful children ages 19, 17, and 7. I’ve also raised my 21 year old brother since the age of 10.”

Favorite Quote: “Every day brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes, and dance.”

By Aurelia Williams, Certified Life Coach

Every mom knows the importance of organization; add a business to the mix and organization becomes even more important. As a WAHM, you need to know where your child’s play date is, when your next deadline is due, and what you are making for dinner.

A life coach can help you develop an organization system, set priorities and stay in control of your schedule. You’ll no longer waste precious time looking for things you’ve misplaced and you will no longer miss those important deadlines.

Get the Job Done & Spend Quality Time With Your Kids:
In many cases, women become WAHMs because they want to spend more time with their children. However, when you have deadlines to meet and clients to please, finding time to spend with your children can be difficult.

A life coach can help you develop a work routine that will allow you balance your time between work and family. When you have a routine in place, you will know which hours are for work; and which are for play.

How a Life Coach can Help WAHMS Spend Time with Their Spouse:

It can be easy to put romance on the backburner when you have your hands full. As a WAHM, you are tackling two “more than full-time” jobs. It is important to make time for your spouse, so that your marriage does not suffer.

A life coach can help you and your spouse work out a schedule where you both take on various household tasks. Having your spouse take over some of your chores will free up time on your schedule to create a date night together. You need time to be husband and wife, not just “mom” and “dad”.

How a Life Coach can Help WAHMs Get Time to Themselves:

By nature, women tend to be people pleasers; a life coach can help you learn to say “no”. This will prevent you from taking on more work than you can handle. When you take on too much, your natural response is to limit the time you take for yourself. This can be a big mistake. You deserve to take time out for yourself; take a walk, read a magazine, get a manicure.

You will notice that when you take a break to be alone, get your thoughts together, and recharge your batteries, you will have renewed energy and passion for all areas of your life!

Next Steps:

If you need an extra hand getting what you want out of life, contact Certified Life Coach, Aurelia Williams. She’ll help you design a life that allows you to reach your business and personal goals; cultivate more fulfilling relationships and that elusive achieve work/life balance you’ve been striving for.
