Page Rank Not Important Anymore

UPDATE: GOOGLE HAS QUIETLY DITCHED PAGE RANK IN FAVOR OF BEHAVIORAL TARGETING—-http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2009/10/15/google-ditches-pagerank-in-webmaster-tools 10-18-2009
When this post first appeared in January, there was a lot of doubt that Google would abandon Page Rank. Most bloggers and webmasters wanted to know how then, would Google give relevancy and importance to a site if Page Rank was ditched? Well, along came the power of Facebook and Twitter causing Google to rethink how they were running the search business. Now the search business is ran by Twitter. When Michael Jackson died this summer, Twitter had it first, Google followed. Its been this way all year, breaking news being broke on social networks and not search engines….Read below what I reported early this year…
********************************************************************
Page Rank is not going to mean much this year. That’s straight from the SES Summit held recently in Chicago. Google man in the know, Matt Cutts talked about it extensively, stating that Search Marketing is making a complete migration to behavioral targeting.
See Matt Cutts Video Here:
Behavioral targeting allows search engines to predict accurately what users are searching for based upon past search behavior. Facebook is modeled after this method, and in case you haven’t used the social network, it’s quite successful with behavioral targeting.
Being able to synchronize user search habits opens the door for search predictions, ones that will be highly targeted.
Focusing on marketing transparency instead of obsolete ‘push-sale-push-sale’ tactics, will mean the difference between making money online and not making money online. Page Rank is not important any more. It’s being replaced with behavioral targeting, and that algorithm is as unique as our DNA.
Is Page Rank dead? Bloggers have been predicting the demise of Page Rank since 2003, It may not have bitten the dust totally, but it definitely won’t mean as much as it once did. Paying attention to your analytics and interpreting your traffic, will go much farther.
