class="zem_slink" title="Social media" rel="wikinvest" href="http://www.wikinvest.com/concept/Social_media">Social media</a> is so complicated sometimes that it&#8217;s simple.</p><p>Does that make sense? That social media can be simple and complicated all at once?  Sure it does!</p><p>Social networking is no different than attending a <a
class="zem_slink" title="Business networking" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_networking">networking event</a> in your town.  Your fears are similar, you don&#8217;t want to appear like a pushy salesman, yet you want to make an impression on everyone that you come in contact with.  You know your introduction is precious, and that first impressions are powerful and lasting.</p><p>So are <a
class="zem_slink" title="Social network service" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_network_service">online social networking</a> first impressions.</p><p>That&#8217;s why so many people (over 500 million as of August 2010) have joined social networking sites like <a
class="zem_slink" title="Facebook" rel="homepage" href="http://facebook.com">Facebook</a>.  Facebook allows people to connect with like minded individuals for a single purpose.  Marketers love Facebook because you can reach your <a
class="zem_slink" title="Target audience" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Target_audience">target audience</a> quickly and efficiently.  Using the Facebook <a
class="zem_slink" title="search" rel="homepage" href="http://search.twitter.com">search feature</a>, you can find all the marketers who are local to you and seek their friendships.</p><p>Or you can find all people who are dog lovers and have monthly events that you can become involved in.</p><p>Using the search feature on Facebook is one way to be heard over the clutter.  Because if you use this feature, and target your audience, the things you say will no longer be clutter.  Your updates will become valuable words just like you meant them to be.  Now your followers  and friends will connect with you and comment more frequently because they feel they have something in common with you.</p><p>In social networking, it is very important to find a common denominator among people.  Targeting your network allows you to build the herd and convert the crowd with ease.</p><p>That&#8217;s my social networking tip today.  If you think of other ways to cut through the clutter and convert the crowd on Facebook or <a

class="zem_slink" title="Uniform Resource Locator" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniform_Resource_Locator">URL</a> so that others can find you.</p><p>Twitter has provided me with lots of traffic and I want the same for you.  Here are a few tips to use on Twitter andmake the most of it&#8230;then leave your Twitter URL so others can follow you.  You can make money with Twitter, with the use of hashtags (#) and keywords.  I&#8217;ve been promoting some CPA campaigns successfully on Twitter for the past 2 months, so it is true, you can make money on Twitter.</p><p><a

id="_mcePaste">1. Connect and network with others that share your interests. This can help with <a
class="zem_slink" title="Methods of website linking" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methods_of_website_linking">link exchanges</a> or getting traffic for your blog. Use the &#8220;<a
class="zem_slink" title="search" rel="homepage" href="http://search.twitter.com/">search</a>&#8221; feature and find others that are tweeting about things that interest you or are relevant to your blog topic. Follow them and they will most likely follow you back. (I spend about 20 minutes a day searching for and following people.)</div><div
id="_mcePaste">2. Be unique and give value to the Twitter community. Let your personality show in what you say, and also let it show in your blog. You also need to be careful of what you tweet &#8211; one tweet rattled off in anger can truly damage your reputation and make you lose followers.</div><div
id="_mcePaste">3. Promote your Twitter link. Many people use Twitter, so simply put your link in <a
class="zem_slink" title="email" rel="homepage" href="http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=898949&amp;loc=en_US">email</a> signatures and in forum signatures &#8211; your list of followers will grow quickly. I have found that putting a Twitter link in your <a
class="zem_slink" title="Signature block" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signature_block">forum signature</a> and then giving informative posts in a forum will guarantee people will follow you.</div><div
id="_mcePaste">4. Be consistent with your tweets, but not too chatty. I make sure I send out tweets at least a few times a week &#8211; less on weekends, more during the week &#8211; and I don&#8217;t get too talkative. I want people to look forward to my tweets, not groan when they see I have said something new.</div><div
id="_mcePaste">5. Ask good questions. Asking a thought-provoking or controversial question with a link to your blog is a great way to get people to participate. Make sure you suggest in your tweet that people answer the question by making a comment on your blog. If you have a poll, send a tweet announcing the results &#8211; along with another link to your blog.</div><div
id="_mcePaste">6. Be generous when you tweet. Become an asset to the Twitter community. Along with promoting your blog, make sure you participate in the other activity going on by answering questions and commenting on other <a

class="zem_slink" title="Business" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business">business</a>.  However, I realize, just as in real life networking, there are those that struggle with <a
class="zem_slink" title="Social network service" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_network_service">online social networking</a>.    Think of social networking as the science of turning contacts and friends into customers.</p><p>One of the keys to successful social networking is participation.  It&#8217;s important to be a part of the conversation as much as possible.  You don&#8217;t want to be a wallflower at a <a
class="zem_slink" title="Dance" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance">dance</a>, so don&#8217;t be a wallflower on <a
class="zem_slink" title="Twitter" rel="homepage" href="http://twitter.com">Twitter</a> or <a
class="zem_slink" title="Facebook" rel="homepage" href="http://facebook.com">Facebook</a>.  Be a part of the process.  Jump in and comment.  Add something substantive to the conversation&#8211;this makes people curious about you and they will undoubtedly visit your profile.  Once they visit, usually the friend request will follow.</p><p>Now that they&#8217;re following you, reading your every <a
class="zem_slink" title="Microblogging" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microblogging">status update</a> and tweet, don&#8217;t rush into things by trying to sell them on your first few words of <a
class="zem_slink" title="Communication" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communication">communication</a>.  Wait a minute, feel them out, see what they came for.  You can easily check this out on Facebook by clicking on that person&#8217;s profile, and reading some of their responses or contributions.  A quick and easy way to investigate and find more out about your new friend.  This technique is also a powerful way to enter into a <a
href="http://ning.it/bl3mr6%20">conversation</a> with your new friend by commenting on a photo or wishing them happy birthday.</p><p><strong>It is always better to give than receive. </strong></p><p>Keep that in mind when using social networking.  Advice, knowledge, a free report, all those things are like little gifts to your new friend.  You will make a good impression this way.  Men who are attempting to date a woman they like always show up for the first date early, they dress nice, and probably take her on a memorable date.  Think of social networking as your new date, you want to dress to impress.  This is an easy way to engage your friends and followers.</p><p>Really social networking is all about first impressions, communication, and making online connections that click.  When you discover people flocking to you like bees on honey because of a <a

class="zem_slink" title="Social network service" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_network_service">social networking</a>.  Not that I need to find out how to talk to people, but I felt I needed to enhance my skills in social networking.  I just don&#8217;t want to be one of those people who piss others off by being over bearing and intrusive.  We&#8217;ve all experienced the intrusive <a
class="zem_slink" title="Instant messaging" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant_messaging">IM</a> from a contact trying to sell their <a
class="zem_slink" title="Affiliate marketing" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affiliate_marketing">affiliate program</a> even though you have told them you are not interested.  Usually this person will proceed in trying to knock your program in an effort to convince to join theirs.  Wrong move.</p><p>Funny I made this discovery, because I received an email regarding this very topic from one of my subscribers on <a
class="zem_slink" title="YouTube" rel="homepage" href="http://www.youtube.com/">YouTube</a>.</p><p>How do you create lasting online relationships? This unconventional ability to attract readers without putting in too much of an extra effort soon caught the attention of the corporate houses. Once the clever bourgeoisie got wind of this fact, they immediately tapped this sector to advertise themselves. In return they set up a source of income for the bloggers. Truly something quite unheard of!</p><p>Why does a blog attract so many netizens? The reason lies in the fact that most blogs are like one&#8217;s personal diary made public, where every common man reflects on his day-to-day experiences. And the fun doesn&#8217;t stop there. Most readers, after reading these blogs, comment on them as well. Nine out of ten times a healthy conversation ensues which leads to an elaborate process of quoting numerous bloggers and thereby getting to know other people who might thinking about these matters.</p><p>Social networking inevitably leads to linking of various blogs together. Soon enough, you&#8217;ll notice marketing managers hankering after you to attach a small tagline of their product to your blog.
